Instructions for the Tuesday Ten Net - revised 21 February 2010

Script: Calling the Queen City Emergency Net, calling the Queen City Emergency Net. Good evening from (CALLSIGN), net control for this evening's net. My name is (NAME) and I am located in (QTH). This net meets every Tuesday at 9pm for announcements, traffic and comments for members of the Queen City Emergency Net, but all radio amateurs are welcome and are encouraged to check in. QCEN is affiliated with the Cincinnati Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

We are using the W8VND repeater on 147.24 MHz. and the W8VVL repeater on 442.7 MHz. Both repeaters use a tone of 123. Because the repeaters are linked, we recommend that you pause one second after keying up to allow both repeaters to come on, so we won’t miss your call sign or something else important.

This is a directed net and net control will control the net.

When checking in please give your callsign phonetically, and your name and location. If you have traffic or announcements, please indicate that when you check in.

Are there any mobile stations for the net this evening?

TAKE COMMENTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM MOBILE STATIONS BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Are there any stations with traffic or announcements for the net?

Any stations currently on or west of I-75, please check-in now.

Any stations currently on or east of I-75, please check-in now.

Alternate: Stations with callsign suffixes A-P please check in. (Then) Callsign suffixes Q-Z please check in.

PASS TRAFFIC, ANNOUNCEMENTS, CALL FOR ADDITIONAL CHECKINS

CALL EACH STATION FOR COMMENTS

ONE MORE CALL FOR CHECKINS, THEN CALL THEM FOR COMMENTS

This is (CALL) closing this session of the Queen City Emergency Net. Thank you for checking in, and please check-in again next week. Good evening from (CALL).

Comments/Notes:

  • Net control is in control of the net. As long as the necessary business can be conducted, feel free to vary the preamble to catch folks off-guard.
  • Net control is in control of the net. If net discipline and/or procedure is not satisfactory, say/do what is required to get it there.
  • We are no longer asking for "out after announcements" as a status, and even if you hear it, include that station in the roll call.
  • Please send e-mail to the Communications Manager with a list of checkins, and any notes of interest or opinions relative to the net.
